Blog Posts

For this assignment, Julian was tasked with developing and maintaining his own blog, selecting a platform to establish an online presence. He chose to use BlogSpot, and over the course of the semester he wrote a variety of posts dedicated to sports betting. He ensured that each post aligned with the overall theme of the blog while engaging readers and encouraging interaction through calls-to-action.

Social Media Calendar

For this assignment, Julian developed a one-month social media calendar to promote The Power Protein Pack, a new venture offering a to-go package of flavored probiotics, collagen, and vitamins for busy new moms. The goal was to create a strong, targeted campaign across three social media platforms, focusing on young urban moms aged 26-39. Students were expected to keep the campaign engaging, diverse, and aligned with the interests of the target audience while ensuring no significant gaps in posting throughout the month.

This assignment required me to develop a public relations strategy for Generation Plus Bio Chemical Corporation, which is opening a new recycling facility in Melonville. The company faced significant public opposition during the approval process, and the task was to build trust and confidence with the local community. The assignment involved creating a series of public relations ads that would highlight the company's environmental benefits, its national recognition, and its established community relations programs to address concerns and foster a positive image. Additionally, students were encouraged to make up facts about Generation Plus for the purpose of developing a comprehensive strategy.

Headline (Type: News/Statement):Generation Plus is Now Part of Melonville’s Future”

Lead (First Sentence/Transition Point): What does a healthier environment look like for Melonville? It starts with a commitment to sustainability—and that’s exactly what Generation Plus brings to the table.

Body Copy:  Generation Plus Bio Chemical Corporation is proud to announce the opening of its new recycling facility right here in Melonville. With over 35 years of experience in environmentally responsible practices, we are dedicated to transforming wastewater sludge into valuable bio-solids that enrich agricultural soils safely and effectively. Our product is not only safe for the environment but also supports sustainable farming practices, ensuring a healthier future for all of us.

In recognition of our commitment to environmental stewardship, Generation Plus has received numerous national awards for innovative recycling methods, including the Green Innovation Award for Environmental Excellence in 2023. We are a leader in reducing waste, recycling over 2 million tons of material annually across North America. As a top 100 employer, we understand the importance of strong community ties, and we have built successful relations with other cities across the country, contributing over $15 million in community development projects to date. Our work in Melonville is no different.

We’re committed to making a positive impact by creating over 100 new jobs in the area, improving the local economy, and ensuring the safety and sustainability of the land and resources we all rely on. The bio-solids we produce have been thoroughly vetted by independent environmental experts and are deemed safe for use, supporting the agricultural sector and fostering a greener future. In fact, our bio-solids have helped increase crop yields by up to 20% in test farms across four provinces.

At Generation Plus, we believe in building communities that thrive—together. With your support, we can create a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable Melonville for generations to come.

News Feature

For this assignment, students were expected to write a 750-word feature article that contributed to the public relations goals of a client. The article had to be formatted like a news release, with a dateline and a strong, fresh angle. The article needed to include an enticing lead, a clear structure, and a compelling conclusion. It needed to feature research, interviews, or both, and include quotes or other illustrative information. The goal was to create an engaging, lively piece that contributed to the client’s PR strategy, whether through profiles, case studies, or other forms of content that promoted the client’s message or services.

For his feature article, Julian chose to write about the event he and his classmates organized for Rodesha Immigration Management Services (RIMS). The event aimed to raise awareness about immigration services and support newcomers to Canada. Julian's article highlighted the event's success and how it aligned with RIMS' public relations goals, incorporating quotes from RIMS' founder and demonstrating how the event contributed to the organization's mission.

“A Journey of Hope”: RIMS Brings Clarity to Canada’s Immigration Process

HAMILTON, ONT. March 18, 2025- On March 26, Mohawk College will host a powerful and insightful event titled “A Journey of Hope”, presented by Rodesha Immigration Services (RIMS). This informative event aims to increase awareness of RIMS and its valuable services, foster a positive view of immigration in Canada, and demonstrate the expertise and compassion that RIMS brings to immigrants looking to build a new life in Canada. With the guidance of founder Rouxanne Irving, a passionate Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant, RIMS is dedicated to helping clients through every stage of their immigration journey.

“A Journey of Hope” will take place from 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Agency Room at Mohawk College, and it promises to be an event filled with crucial insights for anyone considering immigration to Canada. As a trusted leader in the field of immigration consulting, RIMS is working tirelessly to not only provide expert services but to reshape perceptions of immigration, highlighting the positive impact immigrants have on Canada’s social fabric.

Irving, who has been an advocate for immigrants since her own journey to Canada, is at the forefront of this event. She understands firsthand the challenges immigrants face, having made the move from Jamaica as an international student in 2011. With an impressive educational background, including a diploma in Business Accounting from Mohawk College, she brings both professional expertise and a personal touch to her work at RIMS.

“I remember the overwhelming feeling of being new to Canada, unsure of where to start, and realizing how much support was needed,” Irving said. “With ‘A Journey of Hope,’ we want to offer just that—hope. Hope for those looking to build a better future here, and hope that they are not alone in this journey.”

Fostering Understanding and Celebrating Diversity

RIMS’ overarching goal for this event is not only to inform prospective clients about their services but to shift the broader conversation surrounding immigration. By fostering a positive, inclusive view of immigration, RIMS hopes to inspire action and provide clarity to those uncertain about the process.

“We aim to increase awareness of the benefits that immigrants bring to this country,” Irving continued. “It’s not just about facilitating the immigration process, but about making sure that the wider community understands the profound value immigrants add to Canadian society—socially, economically, and culturally.”

The event will feature a detailed overview of the services offered by RIMS, including help with work permits, citizenship applications, refugee protection, and permanent residency. In addition, the event will feature guest speakers, several of whom are past clients of RIMS, who will share their personal experiences navigating the immigration process. It’s an invaluable opportunity for those considering immigration to Canada to learn more about the process and have their questions answered.

Showcasing RIMS’ Expertise and Values

At RIMS, the focus is always on personalized service. Each immigration case is unique, and Irving’s team strives to provide customized advice tailored to the individual needs of their clients. The event will spotlight RIMS’ values—integrity, transparency, and dedication to ensuring that each client feels supported and well-informed throughout their journey.

By hosting an event that not only educates attendees but also serves to build a community, RIMS continues to stand out as a source of empowerment for anyone looking to immigrate to Canada.

The Event’s Student-Driven Approach

“A Journey of Hope” is more than just a typical community event—it’s a collaboration between Irving’s RIMS and Mohawk College students in the Public Relations/Corporate Communications program. The event is being organized by a group of talented students: Julian Pellegrini, Maariyah Khan, Mikayla Paszt, Jacqueline Vivas, and Olu Fagade, who are using their skills and passion to bring this important initiative to life.

As part of their special events planning class, these students have taken on the responsibility of coordinating the event, showcasing the power of teamwork and community engagement. Their efforts have been crucial in making “A Journey of Hope” an opportunity for learning, networking, and fostering a deeper understanding of the immigration process.

“We are excited to be part of such an impactful event,” said Julian Pellegrini, one of the students involved in organizing the event. “It’s not every day that you get the chance to be a part of something so meaningful, and we hope this event will leave a lasting impact on attendees and encourage them to pursue their Canadian dreams.”

An Invitation to Learn and Connect

“A Journey of Hope” is an opportunity not only to learn about immigration services but also to connect with others on a similar path. It’s a chance to hear firsthand from an experienced immigration consultant and learn how RIMS can help guide individuals and families through their own immigration journey.

For those who are new to Canada or planning to make the move, “A Journey of Hope” will offer invaluable resources and an understanding of how to navigate the process with confidence. The event will also encourage attendees to consider the broader role of immigration in shaping the Canadian experience—one that welcomes diversity and fosters inclusivity.

The event is open to the public, and all are encouraged to attend. Whether you’re seeking guidance on the immigration process or simply want to learn more about the positive impact immigration has on Canada, this event is an opportunity you won’t want to miss.

Julian was expected to work with his group to create a professional advertising creative brief for DoorDash’s DashPass, clearly outlining the campaign’s purpose, objective, and target market. The group then developed and presented a full campaign including print ads, a 30-second radio ad, a social media post, and a short-form video. Each team member had to define their role in the project. In addition, Julian was required to individually complete a detailed media plan and media buy, outlining strategies to reach a niche market using a $600,000 budget across at least four media types, including digital and broadcast.
